Hygge-time with Jenny

What does Hygge mean to you? What does the perfect Hygge moment look like to you?

Hygge is a way of life for me personally. Decelerating, not rushing from one place to another, but enjoying life and the moment. The first time I dealt with the topic, I realized myself that I have to pay more attention to my gut feeling and myself. Do I really want to have five appointments on the weekend that I don't really feel like attending? I don't have to! Isn't it much nicer to spend time with your friends in the evening, to see your family one day longer and to postpone appointments? What is good for me? What makes me happy?

I've made some personal changes since then. I'm going swimming again, which I've neglected for far too long, although it's a lot of fun and good for me. My family has become much more important to me than any appointment or assignment, for one more day with my loved ones I now set mountains in motion.

What are your tips for a cosy winter and Christmas season?

I think that's relatively easy to answer. Much love and warmth! I love to come home during the Christmas season because the whole house is decorated, the fireplace is burning and we are standing outside in the cold around the fire basket drinking mulled wine. But it can also be just as cosy in your own apartment. Christmas decorations and lights make so much difference and contribute especially to the Christmas mood for me. Therefore the whole apartment is decorated in the week before the first Advent. When everything is decorated, with the smell of cookies in the air, the Christmas mood comes up all by itself.

"My very own personal hygge moment: When I sit on the sofa with my treasure in the evening, my favourite music plays and I continue to knit on my projects. A hot tea and scented candles and I couldn't be happier."

What are your top 3 self-made Christmas gift ideas?

It is important with homemade gifts that they really meet the recipient with great joy. So think first. This year I'm going to be an aunt for the first time, so a lot of sewing and knitting is done for the little one.

One tip that is super easy to make, looks great and tastes delicious is homemade spice salt. Another tip are personalized little things. Paint a cup with the initials, embroider a bathrobe with the name or decorate a pillow with textile paint and stamps. These gifts will always be remembered forever.
